RUN NO. 2514 SUBOK 309 25 OCT 2016

RUN NO. 2514
DATE: 25 OCT 2016 - HALLOWEN
SITE: SPG 309 SUBOK

PsYcHo'S DeAd 'n BrEaKfAsT RuN... an AwEsOmE NiGhT!!

Warned of wetting pants and heart attacks, we sturdy hens arrived undeterred in our droves. A welcoming grave yard and a tasty green halloween punch; with trembling hands we signed in and headed out... torches at the ready, peering at the ominous dark clouds above.  Steep, steep steps to the peaks of Brunei, a little flat to catch our weary breath, then deep, deep down into the darkness; no going back now for us fearful hens, as spooky witches crouching behind trees eagerly give us a fright.

As OnOn approaches, appearing from nowhere... all creatures of the night - witches 'n devils, ghosts 'n ghouls, dancing ballerinas and dead boys 'n girls: pumpkins 'n pirates, skeletons galore all drinking merrily together on this deadly turf... but no sign of our JM - where the hell is Smurf! Buried alive or burnt at the stake? Death by budweiser and dumped in a barrow? If we asked her double act Pee Wee, would we be any the wiser?

Lots of parades and loads of prizes for creative costumes and pumpkin carvings; Yogi Beer hearing the call to win them all was promptly put in the corner by the spider's wall.

Double, Double.. Toil and Trouble... Fire Burn and Cauldron Bubble... in the cauldron boil and cook spicy curry "n pumpkin soup... in the poison'd entrails throw spider cookies and snacky bones. We brave hens having had our fill, retired before day light... looking forward to next year's more dreaded night!!!  Thanks to all who came to the run, especially to PsYcHo & Co. for the efforts put in to the evening, food, decorations etc.

RUN NO. 2513 TUNGKU 355 18 OCT 2016

RUN NO. 2513
SITE: TUNGKU 355
DATE: 18 OCT 2016
HARES: SATU LAGI/RUSHHOUR/RIPPER
FRONT HORN: HASHHOUND   BACK HORN: TRAILBLAZER

Hares

It was a wet and dismal day. The days grew shorter and the dark comes sooner. Hens flocked to the hash site ready to attack the jungle. Wearing longs they braced themselves for Edward scissors hands or razor grass that grows in abundance in this part of the world. Up and down they walked looking for checks and the trail of paper that marks the way. Lest someone gets Led Astray.
Trailblazer finding first two checks

Somewhere off the beaten path, two silhouettes were working hard. Digging. Digging. Digging. They were digging another hole. Nearby a mound of earth shows someone is buried there already. And they were digging another. There's always time for a Satu Lagi.
Good checks keeping both front and back together

Hens walked check after check....until they hit a third. Was it coincidence? Was it meant to be tricky?

Huddled off the beaten path... the two waited. Waiting for one to come near to check where the trail may go. But what is this? Or who is this? An old friend... could it be... Mad Marg... Perhaps there is time for a reunion of the mad, the psycho and the ripper.
Mad Marg on a flying visit.

Slowly hens move at the sound of on on paper...

They still wait... there will be one that is behind... always one

It gets dark in the jungle quite quickly.. lights get turned on to show the way.

Their patience wavering... their madness spiraling... parangs ready and thirsty for blood. Sure enough a lonely light flickering in the shadows.  hello little lady... all on your own...

..................
Somewhere off the beaten path, two silhouettes were working hard. Digging. Digging. Digging. They were covering another hole.

Against a log, parangs dripping with blood.

In the hole, a terrified face looks on, barely breating, unable to scream, bleeding out slowly, bones cracked and broken so she could be fitted into the hole.

Watching in hysterical fear as she is being buried alive.

The two silhouettes smile.
Run report will be updated once received.
Next mismagement....

Yummy curries

The ghoul appeared to announce next weeks run.

RUN NO. 2512 DIPLO 11 OCT 2016

RUN NO. 2512
DATE: 11 OCT 2016
SITE: DIPLO
HARES: ALISON/BLACK BEAUTY/CHERYL (and back up crew) for the MCMILLAN FUNDRAISER
FRONT HORN:   YOGI BEER         BACK HORN: TRAILBLAZER

The day all the hens were excitedly looking forward to had arrived. A nice jungle walk and "refreshments" is usually a good enough incentive but when you throw cake in the mix there is a surge in the usual attendance! All proceeds go to the Macmillan charity which the hens were more than happy to contribute to. As Kat and I approached the site, I saw a few hens making their way down the road already as I was running a little late. Few minutes were added on as we signed in and registered our cakes and gasped at the number of entries!

Knowing that the run was laid by veteran hashers to Diplo we knew we were in for a nice one. I was spurred ahead by Kat as we were already late but the slippy ground made me hesitant to go too fast. We bumped into Alison who told us to take a right at the sign if we wanted to do the whole trail as it was a lollipop so we did and saw the sign to take a short cut out but chose to do the whole trail as thought it would be short. We caught up with Rachel F, Tiger Moth and Where's Wally when they were across the stream at first check and there was a small confusion about the paper as one bit looked like an arrow but managed to go ahead.  Lots of mud, stream crossings, hills, obstacles of fallen trees, some scary cliff like paths, trippy roots, triangles/pink dipped paper (good idea) later, we passed second check and then third as darkness descended (its that time of the year!). I am informed that back horn found on on paper before front horn at the second check but not sure who else found the others. Heard they were sneaky though! We all got out safe and sound in the end. Thank you to front horn Yogi Beer and back horn Trailblazer.

Hens got changed and settled, gathering excitedly for the shout up (to be over) and dessert! They also got a chance to play and win (I won 6 prizes!!!) at the tombola and guess the number of spots on the cake. We welcomed 3 first time guests brought by Tracy, Rush Hour and Sarah/Sally/Sue/Samantha/Susan, welcomed back Downward Dog and celebrated Rachael Tan's 50 runs! Psycho announced upcoming Halloween run in 2 weeks at her crib, someone left their hash shoes at Survivor Run last Sunday (great turn out by H3), Lickity Quick needs some help for a project she's doing which requires her to write a report about a business and includes financial records (which can be changed). Ladies were reminded that Founders Day is coming up next month and 50 years of hashing the Saturday night following. As H3 is currently at about 75 members, it is encouraged that members who wish to bring guests do book their spots early as they are limited. Forms will be released next week. You have until then to check if your husbands, boyfriends, scandals, girlfriends, etc are available and children (if any) are taken care of for the night!

The winner of the "guess the number of spots on the cake" went to Squeak with a consolation prize for Sarah/Sally/Sue/Samantha/Susan (we need to give her a proper hash name soon). Then cake winners were announced starting from 2nd runner up Rachael Tan, 1st runner up Readymix and the winner Yogi Beer! Special mention needs to be given to Smurf's "sponge cake" with the hard sell reviews attached. Priority to buying cake went to those who had brought a cake as they got a free slice...I forgot about the special coffee but someone kindly gave me theirs. A cake feast indeed as we staggered home with happy bellies. Most of us  left by 8:30pm leaving the hard cores to their usual fun.

Next week's run is a site we haven't been to for a while, Spg 355-86 off Jalan Tungku. For those who have been before, you need to go through a funny triangle roundabout (ironic) to get in. Look out for the signs at the "roundabout" and the simpang to lead you to the site. Word Bird assures me she has the right map! On on

And here is the tiramisu recipe....(don't say its from me)

Separate 2 eggs and beat egg whites until stiff. Add 4 tablespoons of caster sugar to the egg yolks and beat until thick and fluffy. Add 250g of marscarpone to egg yolk mixture and beat until smooth. Fold egg whites into the yolk mixture until well incorporated.

Prepare coffee of choice (I wing it with my nespresso and just keep making black coffee and using it. Add alcohol if you wish) and dip sponge fingers into the coffee before arranging them in container of choice. Top with some of the custard mix then put on another layer of sponge fingers. Do 2 or 3 layers to your preference or container height making sure the custard mix is on top. Sprinkle with cocoa powder and leave to set in fridge for at least 3 hours.

RUN NO. 2511 TANJ BUNUT KANAN 4 OCT 2016

RUN NO. 2511
DATE: 4 OCT 2016
SITE: TANJ BUNUT KANAN
HARES: DREAMLINER GIRLS
FRONT HORN: LARA    BACK HORN: TIGER MOTH

Well, it started in the usual fashion with a punctual "meep, meep" at 5:15pm from the front horn, Lara. Off we went, with gusto because the inviting pool keenly awaited our return!

Up the hill, over the hill, down the other side and the usual left turn in off the main road. Mrs Pingu, Yogi Beer and Lara leading the way. Then, the usual right turn up the hill, but, today, only a little way up before we had to turn right in towards the jungle. Sadly, faaaaar too many walkie-talkies missed this and carried on up the hill! Definitely the biggest fail I have ever seen on the hash by hens not following paper!

Anyway, on we went on the usual trail, but in reverse, a lovely trail which led us to a waterfall. A good check kept the few front runners busy looking for sometime, but eventually, Mrs Pingu's roar could be heard.

Up we went the steep hill which carried on forever, until we met the troop heading the wrong way at about 3km in. Front runners discussed the confusion for sometime as they ran, but we were 100% confident we had led the pack the correct way.

Eventually, we popped out onto the fire trail after a good 45mins trek in the jungle. A long, beautiful run, as the sun set, to take us back home, with a very clear OUT spelt in paper and an arrow pointing down the hill to show us the way.  A great lollipop run for all (no matter which direction you did it in) and a whopping 6,7km by my tracker.

Alison and Smurf led the shout up. Where was Pee Wee? She had miraculously disappeared. We had two guests from the army, we had Rosie sworn in as a new member with her unforgettable mobile phone down her leggings, vibrating scenario! No prizes for guessing her hash handles in a few months time!

We had a hashit for not signing out (idiot!) and, followed by Siaw Yen's tasty birthday cake. In fact, it was a busy birthday week as Rush Hour and Lara were celebrating too!
That was it for another week! Until next time. On on.
So, being the delightful ladies that we are, we sang them a happy birthday!

best if all, we had gold dresses, wigs and a dance routine from the hostesses with the mostest. Food was truly scrumptious and disappeared quickly,

Love

RUN NO. 2510 MENTERI WATERFALLS 27 SEP 2016

RUN NO. 2510
SITE: MENTERI WATERFALLS
DATE: 27 SEP 2016
HARES: RACHEL/LYKKE/GINTRAP/HHOUND
FRONT HORN: YOGI BEER            BACK HORN: GERI

So at the usual hour, the hens gathered at the sign in at the Mentiri Waterfalls. 5.15 and the horn sounded. We followed the paper in, which didn't go the usual way. It snaked around to the left and it wasn't long before we met our first hill (you'll note I'm saying FIRST hill) which was a jolly decent one at that. We kept going until we hit the ridge, which is often a relief, but not this ridge. It goes up and down all the way along and in this direction, there seemed to be many more ups than downs. Is this possible? My legs would say yes for sure. We finally came along to the swathe of jungle that has been mercilessly cut out, we crossed the track and carried on up. You see, up again! This is where the run became interesting as we ventured where haven't before. The tracks were quite uneven and we could see that the hares had spent quite a while cutting in order to open the trail up. We managed to cross a tricky little bridge before climbing up again. After a few minutes we could hear the traffic and finally we had down trail out. Just a short trot back to the sign in boards. Although a shorter distance than some runs, it more than made up for it in intensity. We all made our way back to Rachel's house (palace?) for the on on. A few hens availed themselves of the swimming facilities before the shout up commenced. No new members this week, or FTGs if I remember correctly. Horns were passed on, hares thanked, the usual. It was good to see some friendly faces back, Super Trooper, Itchy Feet, Speedy Gonzalez, we've missed you! No hashit meant we went straight to the food. Which was superb. Salad and lasagne, thank you hares! We wiled away the next couple of hours, drinks in hand, under the dark Borneo sky, a very lovely evening indeed. This week ladies, prepare yourselves for the RB Dreamgirls run. The run is at Sleazy Gardens, the full run is decent hike, almost 6km, in and out on the fire trails. Pretty decent hills but clear, wide running trails. If you don't fancy that, when you get to the waterfall, turn around and head back - this will give you 4km and misses out the last punishing hill. The choice is yours, enjoy! On on
