RUN NO. 2504
DATE: 16 AUG 2016
SITE: MENTERI WATERFALLS
HARES: GI JANE/GOODNIGHT KIWI/MRS PINGU
FRONT WHISTLE: PEACHY KEEN BACK HORN: LICKETY QUICK
Well, the rain held off even though there was rumbling thunder in the distance. The front horn was replaced by a front whistle as Hash House (who had the front horn) unfortunately didn't make it to the run.
Waiting for the horn to start....
After a wee glitch where the front runners headed off the wrong way we set off into the unknown, GI Jane country that is. No one knows these trails at Menteri like she does. We weren't disappointed. We saw waterfalls and beautiful jungle and.... oh yes, HILLS. And lots of them. At one point I thought "ah, we should be out soon" but it wasn't meant to be. The trail took us back in. Long but lovely.
first water crossing.
Very well laid ladies. Lots of paper. Most of us emerged around 6.30-6.45 pm just as the light was falling. Unfortunately there were a few hashers behind who had to cope with the dark. Above and beyond her duty, Peachy Keen went back in and stood blowing the whistle for the remainder to follow. Well done Peachy Keen.... a true hasher. You did above and beyond your duty. The remainder were out safely by 7.30
Safely out in the dark
The onon didn't disappoint with three first time guests introduced. Two medical students on secondment here and a new ISB teacher. It was a challenging run for these first timers but they seemed to enjoy it and hopefully will come again.
First time guests
The has shit was passed on toe Gerry who forgot to sign in her guest. She took it well and I'm sure wont do that again in a hurry.
No plea would stop the hashit coming!
The whole evening was rounded off by Mrs Pingu's infamous laksa. Enjoyed muchly by all.
This week's run is something a little different from the normal serasa hill run. There will be short and long run. Please wear long trousers and sleeves and plenty of spray. Its quite bitey in there.
NEXT RUN: KAPOK KANAN (Manx run)
HARES: WONDER WOMAN/HOT LIPS/SAM I AM
RUN NO. 2503

HARES: Peachi Keen/Rush Hour/Over This
FRON HORN: Licker BACK HORN: DUCHESS OF CAMBRIDGE
good to return and join the clucking hens gathered on a fine
afternoon at the tent. We were told that there were two runs a short
and a long and to look out for the sign. Who would go for anything
other than long? They don't call me G.I. Jane for nothing.

front horn blasted and sent us on our way across the muddy, open
ground familiar to many, just not to me, last time I saw it there
were trees on it.
Climbing up we headed into the jungle
passing a small pool. Two days later, searching my memory, I have a
clear recollection of bracken and steep uneven inclines. So good to
4.6 kilometres and 53 flights of stairs later I headed
back to the tent for a well deserved rest. Thanks hares.
I have missed all this.
Hares ready to serve Laksa
Smurf and Twinkletoes were in fine form at
the Shout-up, Smurf had even dressed for the occasion with a
specially selected Singapore National Day T- shirt. ( I
do think the dress standard of the hash very different these days and
noted the importance of colour coordination. For further
consultative advice see Pedigree Pup or Black Beauty. Hornbill,
you are on the way with your matching headgear and t-shirt.
Peer Pressure is so hard.)
A run report would be incomplete
without mention of our First time guest from Brunei, brought by Rush
Hour and sponsored by Ripper. Edna, a new member, originally
from Canada, is to be congratulated for starting as she means to go
on and doing the LONG run.

I of course have returned and was very
warmly welcomed. (Who knows if that will be quite as warm after
this weeks hash????).
I do wish I could be here for the
Golden 60s Founders Day celebrations but will just have to view the
photos and wish.Psycho blessed us with not one, but two jokes to
round off the evening. Go Pyscho. If you are feeling lonely
Cheryl has a gorgeous dog which needs a loving home.

The run next
week will be somewhere between 4 and 5 kilometres. (What's a
kilometre or more between friends.) The On On will be at Lucky
Gardens. Thanks to Twinkletoes for again offering her
Hash thought, after enjoying a post hash restorative foot
spa, totally unaffordable in the old country, perhaps this could be
an alternative to the Hash potties awards. Like Brexit perhaps
we could have a referendum!
