Ladies Hash welcomes 7 in 7 run.

Apparently you only have to say Subok and there is a sharp intake of breath. And with reason. The 7 in 7 Run set off at 5.15 sharp. To reach first check there was a vertical scramble up a very slippy hill. I was still in shock at leaning on a 15ft tree which er.... toppled over, followed by 2 men hashers who did an about turn and decided to go the reverse way round. (Didn't like to ask in case it was "boy thing".)

Hash Hound sped past us with front horn and were entertained by a very musical horn from one of the 7 in 7 guys. Hornbill was back horn as we all (well, myself and Bunny Girl) developed Tourette's as we conquered hill after hill after "are we there yet?" hill!

I love the word challenging. It's a euphemism for "OMG there are steep hills but you'll feel great at the end".  And we did!

We all arrived safe and sound and according to the Boys "fragrant" at the On-On. Delicious spring rolls were handed out as Twinkle Toes and Squeak started the shout out and handed over to Susan.

I have to call this part of the words BLAH BLAH BLAH as I struggled to make out what was going on.

It went something like .... thanks to all the JMs and GMs.... Where's Wally? hash shit...  ... where's Grandmother? hash shit ... .... Minnie the Moocher.  Lots of applause.... Where's the plates?  ... Dodgy jokes .... .... On On!

And with that the delicious food and funky music were served.  Huge success and a lot of very happy Hashers.  Thanks to all involved,

NEXT RUN: DIPLO - War of the Roses (You might want to dress up!)

The hares

It was a huge relief to all the ladies that today's rain was this morning. Salambigar Falls otherwise known as Mentiri Falls was only 5 minutes from school so you would think that I could get there on time. With a minute to spare I signed in and started heading back up the hill to school. There was lots of beautiful jungle, fresh and misty (or was that hazy) and with the Latin American inspired theme - we were all tasked with collecting paper to make a flag. Good job we had Mean Machine with her super memory to constantly remind us of the combinations required...yes that was three pieces per flag - red yellow red; red white green; and blue yellow red....I think!

First check was found by Peachy Keen and second by Mean Machine- both back checks and not too fiendish. It was a great run...lots of paths, jungle, unders and overs and a little balancing act near the end. We loved the climbing wall on the white paper out and were pleased to be one of the first so it was not a mud slide. Equally there were those happy to avoid it and come out on blue paper. Was it 4.8 or was 5.2km ..who cares it was a bloody good run.

On on was at Casa di Gin Trap with a true South American warm welcome, including pink flavoured refreshments. Moustaches for flag bearers and lots of noise.

Tonight we celebrated Itchy Feet- 50; Twinkle Toes -150; and Smurf  - 750 runs

Announcements all focused on 7 on 7 which is next week - on the Ladies Run remember to wear your black hare t-shirt or shop t-shirt.  Oh dear Where's Wally - keeps forgetting the hash bucket - Does she chance the algae swimming pool or a bucket of water?

Thank you Gin Trap, Speedy Gonzales, Sam I Am and  Over It for the yummy Mexican food to celebrate the Mexicon Independence Day.

NEXT RUN: SPG 564 SUBOK -  3rd run of the 7 IN 7
HARES: MRS PINGU/GOOD NIGHT KIWI - Wear your TUESDAY FORECAST SHIRT or your B.I.T.C.H. shirt., and your dancing shoes

RUN NO. 2455 JLN DADAP 8 SEP 15

RUN NO. 2455
DATE: 8 SEP 2015
SITE: JLN DADAP
HARES: NEVER WRONG/JENNY OTB

Gamely we drove into what was the unknown for many of us, up a huge hill that had us fearing for what was to come. For all that the run had its ups and downs, none were as bad as the hill we drove up! The scenery was beautiful and not long into the run we came across a river crossing. The front runners were long gone and although we were a bit doubtful about crossing the bamboo bridge, Bunny Girl was the first of us across and lived to tell the tale so Doris followed suit. Unfortunately she had a different bridge-crossing technique and went for an unexpected swim from a great height! All that witnessed it decided to wade through the water instead except for Ready Mix who decided to go for broke. Those behind her followed suit once more, only to find Hornbill going for a swim next!
When the wet and soggy pack eventually got going again it was to the sounds of the first check being found by Christy.

We then had a fantastic rest of the run, with lots of (tamer) water crossings and beautiful jungle
including lots and lots of jackfruit trees. Our lovely Recruiter found the second check.

We were warmly welcomed at Never Wrong's for the on-on where the front runners made up for staying dry in the run by having a dip in the pool. Thank you to Ryvita for stepping in as JM. The shout up was quite short and sweet with no first time guests, no new members, no calls for hashit. Duchess of Cambridge had us laughing with her heaven and hell joke and Licker presented Sam I Am with a comedy survival kit for turning 50. Lovely food followed.

Due to a last minute change in logistics the venue for next week's run has changed to Mentiri, with the on-on at mine (Gin Trap).

Please bring chair, swimmers if you wish (only a small dunking pool), and wear something Latin in flavour. We are celebrating Mexican Independence Day, but also Colombia and Spain, so come as a Mexican bandido or a Spanish SeƱorita....."

We gathered at a new run site. Luckily clear of rain and looked up at the hills we presumed we would be ascending.

We started to climb over many rocks and continued to climb till we reached a peak .Then it was down and down to the start of the simpang.

Those who wanted to shortcut headed back to the on on site. Front horn Mrs Pingu arrived late and raced to the front of the pack. The remaining hardy hashers continued along the road in a large group to the amazement of the motorists. Then it was back into the jungle where the front runners broke away from the pack.

It was good to be in new freshly hacked jungle. Thank you hares.

The on on was accompanied by barking dogs and was very eventful.

There were 2 first time guests, Anita and Julia.
2 new members were welcomed, Kristi and Ariadne.

Then it was time to bestow hash names to 3 members:

Sian will now be known as Yogi Beer
Eloise as Lickety Quick
Satu as Sure Thing.

Sure thing was presented with a baby hamper. We wish her the best for her new addition and have all tried to guess the babies Sex, Date of Birth, Weight and time of birth.

We also celebrated the September birthdays for 5 hens - Hash Hound, Licker, Sam I am, Black Beauty and Doris. Their parents obviously celebrated Christmas 9 months earlier well.

Gin Trap and Mean Machine were given the Hashit for hash offences.
Thank you Hash shop girls for the delicious afghan food and T shirts

NEXT RUN: JLN DADAP, OFF JLN TUTONG - ONON AT NEVER WRONGS.
HARES: NEVER WRONG/JENNI OTB - Please bring a chair...... and there is a pool if you want to swim.

RUN NO. 2453
SITE: SPG 398 SG AKAR
DATE: 25AUG 2015
HARES: ALISON/CHERYL/BLACK BEAUTY

This was a meet and greet run. Due to the torrential rain that occurred at the time of laying, scaring the hares' dogs and soaking the hares completely the run was cut short to save us all from injury.

"The path was a slippery mud bath" reported one hare.  We plodded/slipped up, down and along the trail then turned round. Some did it again.  We were able to meet and greet everyone as they returned on the same trail.  There were not many of us on the actually trail but we all enjoyed the calorie burn. Thank you hares for being brave and facing the weather head on.

The shout up went well at Cheryl's abode.  Cheryl celebrated 600 runs. Satu Lagi declared the run to be very relaxed (or was she talking about her hair?) We enjoyed yummy salads, freshly caught tuna and potatoes. Hashit went to Sian for not signing out which was taken very well - Ed.

It was nice to see some faces returning from their summer holidays.  Next week's run will start at Spg 705-27 house 4 Jalan Sugai Buloh2 off Jalan Muara.  It is on a bend near the traffic lights turning into Kota Batu/Menteri.  Morley Movers is actually on this road. There is not much parking space so park on the grass verge. Bring your chair.

The run will be a bit of everything, hill, good views, road, jungle and we'll even find you some water to cross.

Heavy skies over Diplo, would we be lucky and have a dry run? No!

Five minutes after signing in we heard the pitter patter of raindrops on the tent. Someone said it was to be a shortish run, so the rain wouldn't be a problem and we were to look for Christmas tags.

We set off up to the ridge as the rain became more persistent, and wet!

Nice walk along the ridge into the jungle and down to the valley. At the river, Never Wrong, Alison and I made an executive decision not to cross the log (I hate logs!) and turned round. On the way back we met Mrs Pingu and Peachi Keen doing their second circuit!

At the shout up the hares were thanked for laying such a nice run. Alice in Wonderland was down downed for having completed 600 runs, although Alice thinks she has only done 550! There were no first time guests, but a few announcements - the Kids Hash is at Lucky Gardens; Good Night Kiwi is looking for broken jewelry; Please register for the 7 in 7 by next week. Interested in the Lawas run? See Mamasan.

For entertainment Ripper told a Malaysian joke about Mr Najib, I'm sure he has never told a lie in his life!!!

Hashit was delivered to Jenny on the block, Where's Wally and Ripper. It all seemed to have something to do with shoes!

After all the excitement, those who had found Christmas Tags in the jungle were rewarded by presents from Santa Psycho.  Thank you Psycho, you are a generous girl, there were lots of presents.

Then on the grub, spicy pumpkin soup and bread rolls. Just the thing for a chilly, rainy evening. A nice wee raincoat would be a suitable goodie at Founder's Night, just saying!

Next week's run is at the Water Tower, Sungai Akar. Please park at the bottom of the hill. The paper will start at the top of the hill.  Onon will be at Cheryl's - please bring a chair.

It’s been a long time since we had a live run – and who better to lay it than Hash Hound, Mean Machine and Speedy Gonzales? Tuesday night saw us all gathering on Jalan Muara with the hares looking more and more nervous and already getting ready the reasons why they might be caught (‘I’m injured,’says Hash Hound).  More and more front runners turned up (welcome back from the holidays!) and the hares looked even greener.

Hares setting off

Waiting for time to go

Finally, it was time to start. The front hares took off and the JMs spent the next 2 minutes reminding the hens of the risks and rewards of live runs, then the pack was unleashed, with the sweeper hare at the back to make sure no foul play took place.
Past the estate and into the jungle

After a very exciting 45 minutes, the hares appeared jubilant with tales of near misses and having to hide in the jungle for 5 minutes until the sweeper hare went past.  2 minutes later the first front runner appeared, having thoroughly enjoyed the run.  Everyone else made their way out of the jungle more slowly – a great run for all concerned (although some of us were looking forward to the freebies that come from – someone else – catching the hares!).
Under logs and down slopes

Old friends "Hornbill" with "Legolas" - returning hasher

There were 5 first time guests (3 from Gin Trap and 2 from Full Steam Ahead) and 1 returning hasher (Legolas is visiting from the UK).  Unfortunately for Gin Trap she hadn’t quite trained her guests as well as she could so the honour of the hashit came her way (note to future bringers of guests – they need to know your hash name and you need to introduce ALL of them to the JMs! Hehehehe).
The food was absolutely delicious (thank you hares!) and the company was awesome (as usual!).  There are many things you could be doing on a Tuesday evening, but coming to hash takes a lot of beating!
Beautiful sunset

This Tuesday we’ll be gathering at Diplo for another fine night of jungle walking and comradery.  See you there. On on.
Who can this be? It can only be Peachi Kean!

RUN NO. 2450
DATE: 4 AUGUST 2015
SITE: SUBOK 67
HARES: DUCHESS OF CAMBRIDGE/ALLY
FRONT HORN: RECRUITER   BACK HORN: PEDIGREE PUP

On, on, up and up and up and up…it seemed to never end.
On, on, back and back and back again.

Subok 67 was the place – a new one for me. Had I have known how much road, I would have worn different shoes – I was slip sliding all over the pavement!

With storm clouds looming in the distance, the small group of hares parked our cars at the gate and started huffing it up the road. The first check was found by Moana – even though I (Mean Machine) was at the front. My brain saw the plastic bag of paper and thought “rubbish” not “check”.  Oops!  On back was the call and the huffing and puffing continued.

Finally into some jungle, but wait! Another check!  This time I was on alert for the plastic bag and spotted it quickly. A back check, yet again, but this time leading further into the greenery.
There was a “nice” hill heading up through a path lined with bamboo – beautiful indeed. I hear from one of the hares after that they purposely added that hill JUST for the beauty. Note to future hares – this is not necessary. Haha!

The third check was found at the top of this hill – and it took us awhile to continue on. There was talk of just running back the way we came (the thunder in the distance wasn’t keep us patient), phone calls were even made to ask about the paper – but to no avail. Finally the on, on paper was found…and yes, another on, on back. Is there some sort of record for that?

Due to the continuous back checks, I was behind some of the group as we were on the back end of this lollipop run. The joy in some people’s eyes when they realized I was BEHIND them was something to behold. “WHAT? I am ahead of Mean Machine!  I am going to cherish this!”  Good times.

To the Duchess of Cambridge’s home for the on on!  The rain had held off at this point…and just as everyone was settled with  drink in hand the sky opened up and decided to lash down. Although we were under cover, the wind aided in sending the rain sideways right at us. Luckily there was enough room inside for everyone to eat and remain dry at the same time.

It was a delicious spread – mountain wraps with chicken and all the fixings and fruit for dessert.
Thanks for a great Tuesday, hares!

Next week the run will be at Jalan Muara 470. I really don’t know more than that!  Haha!
See you there (hopefully more front runners will be back to join me).

"I'm sure the rain won't last long" I assured my guest just before I picked her up. Famous last words... On arriving at Mentiri Waterfall the rain was drizzling when we opened the car doors and never stopped. A smallish but enthusiastic group of ladies were all kitted out and attacked the trail with vim and vigor probably heartened by the pre-run information that it wasn't going to be too long or vicious.  As I'd arrived a little late I set off with Alice in Wonderland and my guest Anna whose apprehension about jungle trekking increased once Alice and I realized we were doing the trail backwards. Nothing daunted we continued on with Alice 'checking' to pick up the 'on' paper trail until we met the front runners making their way up a hill and a laid through trail to follow. The group included The Recruiter who cunningly used her superior trail knowledge to find all three checks!  Horns were Trailblazer and Mean Machine.

We continued along greeting other hashers (going around backwards is such a nice way to say hello to everyone) up and down, up and down, up and down. Thanks Hares for an enjoyable Mentiri Falls hash along easily walked trails just made a little slippery by the constant light rain.

The on on was held at Peachi Keen's lovely abode in Kebangsaan Lama. A call for assistance with food resulted with Sam I Am, Pedigree Pup and Ripper stepping forward to help out our hares. Thanks ladies for the scrumptious build your own burgers. I also sampled a very refreshing punch. A fairly quick shout up ensued with hares and horns thanked, Anna introduced as a first time guest from Canada on holiday in Brunei (she hopes to join CfBT in January), a rather risquƩ joke supplied by myself as a poor attempt at entertainment, and reminders about the 7 in 7 hash in September as well as the Lawas Malaysia Day Hash Saturday 29th August.

This weeks run is at Subok 67 with hares Duchess of Cambridge and Ally. Cars can either be parked at 67 or you may prefer to walk along from the on on site at house 2, 106 Jln Subok. This is not a long or hard hash and is a chance to visit an old hashing area some of you haven't been to in a long time or perhaps not at all. Bring your chair to the on on as no tent this week. Please park responsibly on the main road and not up the Simpang.  On On.

What the hares found in the morning. Lucky girls.

Selamat Hari Raya! With a kiddy sounds from our spare front horn honked by Peachi Keen, 23 hashers set out to the Hari Raya Run. After a several hundreds meters of road run, the yellow papers led the hashers into Rimba jungle.

Although there were not so many killer hills, the trail was not an easy one. The 1st check was found by Pee Wee, which challenged us for a good 10 minutes. As we kept following the yellow strips, I started realizing "ummm, this is not an easy run as Rimba usually is, it's pretty hardout..." Of course Satu Lagi would not give us a piece-of-cake run!! Second check was the toughest of 15 minutes search, found by Hot lips. Followed by the third check also found by Hot Lips. Two hits Hot lips!!

Each hasher came out off the trail with a big applause of hares and fellow hashers. The biggest one went for the back horn Trail Blazer, who came out at 8:30.
At shout out we welcomed the first time guest Yvonne, who was brought by Ally who was sentenced to Hashit for her "failing to operate front horn for being shit at direction". We indulged ourselves with a selection of beautiful and fiery local cuisines.

What are they called?) were for Hashers to bring home. [They were "Ketupat Manggis" … a traditional and decorative way to steam rice. Not recommended with plastic ribbons –ed]

Next week's run will be at Salambigar Watefalls, by Sam I am and Peachi Keen. It'll be a very nice and standard run, rather might be boring for some hardcore hashers, with no tricks and twists. On on at Peachi Keen's. Bring your swim togs if you wish to cool down in the pool, or reheat in the sauna. Bring your special bum holder if you have one as there will be little numbers of chairs.

With the anticipation that the run at Spg 420 was going to be short and sweet – last week hashers were in for a real sweet treat as Hares Tina and Trail Blazer took H3 ladies on an exciting ride!

Prior to the run, JM announced the run was about 3 or so kilometers. H3 ladies were also informed that there was going to be water crossings.

Hash Hound led the run at exactly 5.15 pm as front horn.  Our beloved Ripper was assigned as back horn but did not show or even went in for the run. Oh the catastrophe!

The run started along the road at simpang 420 and eventually led to a newly developed housing area that had the most interesting looking swamp and possibly the  most unexpected terrain.
Earlier that day, heavy rain showers covered most areas in Brunei Muara making our hash site extra slippery as the ground was soft and squishy.

The main challenge of the run was definitely the water crossing over a swamp, even though it was a thick log, the crossing was assisted by a rope which did not help much. One wrong move and one could land in a swamp and who knew how deep the water was!

Most ladies were out of the site and onto the On On Site at 6.30pm. Alice in Wonderland and Cheryl were slightly delayed in the exit – the dark and the jungle had them confused.

During the On on – Ripper received her Hashshit for not showing up at the run. Pee Wee entertained us with a joke which no one understood and she had to explain the punchline . Hahhah. And  the following week’s run was announced – which will be at the Armada Housing, Rimba. The following week’s run will be the Hari Raya Run.
Till Then On On.

RUN NO. 2446 DIPLO 7JUL15

Run No.: 2446
Date: 7 JUL 2015
SITE: DIPLO
HARES: ALISON/BLACK BEAUTY

With the warm afternoon sun beating down on us, we set out into the familiar jungles of Diplo.  We were told that it would be a “typical Diplo run”, and it was. There were ups and downs, some water crossings, and quite a bit of rainforest – all the things that make a good hash!

At a fork in the road, we could choose between a shorter, more forgiving route, or a longer one with more hills and water. In the mood for a challenge, I took the latter path. But of course, not long after, I was asking, “ARE WE THERE YET?”

Although the hills had some of us huffing and puffing only halfway up, it was a good run that was not too difficult, yet still a test of my willpower and perseverance!

Apologies as we did not know who found the checks!

After we’d all made it safely to shout-up, there was some delegation of tasks for the holidays and Peachi Kean got the hashit for keeping the crockery basket for three weeks! We ended the evening’s events with a wide spread of lovely food that all the H3 ladies had brought to share.

This week’s run is a mixed bag of a bit of road to get into the jungle, with a bit of mud and water. Enjoy the trails we don’t usually go on; we enjoyed the recces.
