It was raining when we arrived at Diplo, it rained all through the hash and was still at it as we drove away. Fantastic! For us Aquarians and Picses anyway, who gleefully sloshed off along the watery trail. Nine ladies (yes, I know, the craziest ones) ran the whole hash, and the others sensibly decided to backtrack after the first check. This was quite far in and thankfully, Heather found the on paper quickly as all calls were soon drowned out by the drip, drip, dripping of rain on vegetation and we had visions of being lost in the jungle and washed away by rising streams of muddy floodwater…Well, kind of. The last time we did Diplo, we did take 2 hours to get out-in the dark and rain.

Lee found the second on paper quickly too, phew, and on we slithered. Anna did a superb and graceful save after a slip on a very steep and muddy bank…and then we were up into the bracken at the top. After more mud and more rain, we unexpectedly popped out of the cool and very damp jungle onto a pavement and enjoyed a clear run along the road back to the group huddled under an open car boot. Front runners were out in 50 minutes and the last ladies made it back by 6.25.
